AR Society of Freethinkers hosts 2nd annual "Reason in the Rock"

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - Hundreds of Arkansans gathered in downtown Little Rock Sunday for the second annual "Reason in the Rock" conference.

The two-day event, hosted by Arkansas Society of Freethinkers, started Saturday. Atheists, Agnostics and other secular Arkansans attended. Several nationally-known activists spoke at the conference where public policy and separation of church and state were discussed.

Organizers say the event is held to remind Arkansans who aren't religious that they are not alone.

"We all don't believe that there's a supreme deity that rules over us all," said Leewood Thomas, spokesperson for Arkansas Society of Freethinkers. "We're here and we're a component of the community, whether you realize it or acknowledge it. We're here too and we're here to help to help solve the same problems. We're all in this together and the secular community does not need to be overlooked."

More than 200 people attend this weekend. Organizers say that's a significant increase over last year's attendance numbers.
