Center for at-risk families in Little Rock gets facelift

Posted: Updated:

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - The building that houses a non-profit group that helps low-income and at-risk families in Southwest Little Rock got a facelift this weekend.

Volunteers, school teachers and staff at the In His Image Youth Development Center helped paint the classrooms. The Chenal Civitan Club sponsored the project. Local restaurants donated food and drinks for the volunteers and Lowe's of Bryant donated the paint.

The center's co-founder says she believes the students will be excited to see the changes.

"They're going to be so happy!" said Charlesetta Harville. "They're going to be so happy! The paint, in most of the rooms, the paint was a dull gray, which just made them feel probably sad and down. But we have a beautiful shade of blue that their classroom was painted over the weekend and so we know that they are going to be at peace, going to be quiet for them. Just very conducive for a good atmosphere for the children."

The center has 350 children from six weeks to 17 years old.
