Missing NE Ark. man found dead in ditch

TRUMANN (AP) - A man from Trumann who went missing more than a week ago was found dead in a farm ditch in Lawrence County.

Sheriff Jody Dotson says 50-year-old Steven Hooks had not been heard from since Oct. 11. His body was found late Monday afternoon.

Dotson told Jonesboro television station KAIT that a tracking device in Hooks' car was used to find it locked at the back of a farm field.

A property owner found a pair of boots and a wallet belonging to Hooks in the area.

A deputy then searched ditches leading to Village Creek State Park and found Hooks' body about a mile from the car.

Officials say there was no evident trauma to the body, which was sent for an autopsy.
