Two Wagoner County inmates had their jail sentences increased Monday morning after breaking out of jail in July.

Larry Cotton and Mickey Staggs appeared before a judge and pleaded guilty for escaping from the Wagoner County Jail. During their appearance both men received 25 additional years in jail for the incident this past summer.

According to previous reports from KTUL, Cotton and Staggs were caught by Wagoner County deputies 24 hours after their escape. In September Wagoner County Sheriff Bob Colbert stated that jail employee William "Billy" Hagen Jr. gave the inmates a key and were able to get through the locked doors in about ten seconds.

"They knew exactly where to go, which key locks, we knew from the very beginning these things weren't adding up," Colbert said.

Colbert said the escape was caught on tape and they could see that Cotton and Staggs knew the direction to turn the locks because they are designed to go right and left and are changed often.
