Lecture set on genetics, development link

Posted: Updated:

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - An expert on the effect of genetics and environmental factors on development is to give a lecture at Arkansas Children's Hospital.

Stephen J. Suomi is to speak at the hospital at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Suomi is chief of the Laboratory of Comparative Ethology at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development in Bethesda, Md.

Suomi's present research focuses on interactions among genetic and environmental factors in shaping development, among other aspects.

He's looking at findings from monkeys studied in captivity to see how they relate to wild monkeys and also humans living in different cultures.

Suomi will give the annual L. Lynn Harris Memorial Lecture at the hospital.
