EMSA medics are starting to collect warm weather essentials for the community.

It's part of their H.U.G.S. program.

They're collecting new hats, underwear, gloves and socks for adults, teens and children who are in need.

The donated items will go to the Day Center to help the homeless.

Medics say they got the idea after getting calls during the winter when people are not properly prepared for the cold.
