Flu shot clinics to be held in every county

Posted: Updated:

The Arkansas Department of Health is providing flu vaccines at mass clinics in every county in the state.

Clinics begin Monday and continue through most of November. Each clinic is a daylong event in hopes of vaccinating as many people as possible. Some clinics even offer "drive thrus" where you can receive the shot without even getting out of your car.

If you have insurance, ADH will ask your insurance company to cover the cost of the vaccine. ADH requests that you bring your insurance card, Medicare, Medicaid or ARKids cards with you.

If you do not have health insurance, the vaccine is free.

The Centers for Disease Control recommends everyone over the age of six months get a flu shot each year. Certain people are more likely to have serious complications with the flu. They include older people, younger people, pregnant women, people with certain health conditions (such as asthma, diabetes or heart disease), and people who lie in facilities such as nursing homes.
