Some access points closed on Mulberry River, but you can still float

Posted: Updated:

MULBERRY RIVER – The government shutdown can't come to an end soon enough for outfitters on the Mulberry River.  A good rain means good fall floating water, but many access points are closed due to the shutdown.  That includes Wolf Pen, High Bank, Indian Creek and Redding Campground.

You can take an 8 mile float if you put in at the privately owned Byrd's Adventure Center on Highway 215 and take out at privately owned Turner Bend.

The folks at Turn Bend say they've gotten several calls today inquiring about the shutdown and whether the access points have been reopened.

Currently the Mulberry is flowing nicely at 2.6 feet.
