POPE COUNTY (KATV) - A single engine plane crashed near Hector Monday afternoon.

Sheriff's deputies were called by the FAA around 5:00 p.m. saying they had lost contact with the plane. Deputies speaking with Channel 7 News could not confirm the exact model of the plane, though they did say four people were on board.

The pilot tried to bring the plane down on Cannaday Flat Road. Law enforcement said the landing gear buckled and the plane wend off the road and hit a power pole. Sixty homes lost power but neither anyone on board nor anyone on the ground was injured.

Investigators with the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating.
