One man killed after semi-trailer truck rear-ends car

WEST MEMPHIS (KATV) - A Memphis man is dead after a semi-trailer truck rear-ended a car Friday evening.

It happened around 9:45 p.m. near West Memphis.

According to Arkansas State Police initial reports, 61-year-old Burl Brooks Jr. was stopped in the slow lane of Interstate 55 near the 1 mile marker, when a freightliner rear-ended his vehicle. The crash caused Brooks' car to catch fire and hit a guard rail. 

Brooks was pronounced dead on the scene.

Road conditions were reportedly clear and dry at the time of the accident.
