WILLIAMS JUNCTION (AP) - A 100-mile foot race is scheduled for this weekend in the Ouachita National Forest in central Arkansas.
The 23rd annual Arkansas Traveller 100 is set to begin Saturday morning in the hills above Williams Junction.
The defending champion is 47-year-old Robert Vogler of Russellville, who won the 2012 race in 18 hours, 45 minutes and 57 seconds. The top female finisher last year was 23-year-old Sarah Miller of Starkville, Miss. Her time was 22 hours, 38 minutes and 50 seconds.
The race is run primarily along State Forest service roads between Arkansas 7 to the west and Arkansas highways 9 and 10 to the east. Part of the race is also run along the Ouachita Trail.
