UPDATE: Pine Bluff names new police chief

Posted: Updated:

PINE BLUFF (KATV) - The city of Pine Bluff got a new police chief Friday.

Interim Chief Jeff Hubanks was sworn in as the new chief Friday afternoon. Hubanks came out of retirement in January to take over for fired chief Brenda Davis-Jones. Jones led the police department for two a half years, but was criticized by members of the community and the police department.

"Crime is down. It will continue to go down," said Chief Hubanks. "The streets are safer and they will get safer still."

Hubanks said he plans to continue stepping up patrols and increasing the use of technology in crime-ridden areas.
