Tortoises Race to the Finish Line to Preview ZooRun

Posted: Updated:

Zoo officials were on hand Thursday morning to cheer on a few tortoises racing towards the finish line.

It all began around 11 a.m. when the giant Aldabra tortoises gathered for the annual race over at the Tulsa Zoo. The event was held to preview the 44th annual St. John ZooRun.

According to the release, the ZooRun is slated to take place Oct. 5 at Mohawk Park. Along with the several races taking place event-goers can take part in educational activities and even a jupiter jump.

Those participating can sign up for a 1-mile fun run, a 5k and 10k. Packet pickup will be held at the New Balance in Utica Square through Friday.
