A $2-million lakeside Village... is coming to Northeastern Oklahoma.
They're now celebrating... the start of that construction.
The clean waters of Lake Skiatook are the breeding grounds for opportunity. For developer Ron Howell, it started with an idea 10 years in the making.
This is prime property around Skiatook Lake. With investors, determination and hard work, the new Village at CrossTimbers was born. Shovels help turn the dirt on a 2 million dollar event center announced by area leaders. The 72-hundred square foot facility will serve venues including weddings, receptions and corporate and group events. So what will set this event center apart from all the others in nearby cities.
"But the one thing that folks want is the sound and view and access to the water that's going to trump all the other venue centers frankly in our mind," says Howell.
Development around the planned event center at Skiatook Lake is already present with a marina, homes and walking trails. So a place near the water to hold special events seemed to flow naturally with what's already here. This site creates other possibilities.
"It's very good for economic development, not only the private lots that we're developing that sends taxes to the local schools and it gives the folks in Tulsa and Northeast Oklahoma another reason to live here," says Howell.
The event center can accommodate 320 people plus include a dance floor. There are plans to add a restaurant, additional cottages, and more boat docks.
This time next year the development is expected to be finished and the first weddings will likely already have been scheduled
