Baby Veronica Case: South Carolina Charge Keeps Dusten from Daughter

Posted: Updated:

A South Carolina attorney for Dusten Brown says as long as there's an outstanding charge against her client he will be prevented from coming to the state to see his daughter.

Shannon Jones told the Associated Press that if the charge remains Brown could be arrested when he entered the state.

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin is trying to persuade South Carolina to drop the charge and extradition order against the Oklahoma Cherokee father who disputed his daughter's adoption. Brown gave his daughter Veronica to her South Carolina adoptive parents on Monday.

Brown was charged with custodial interference in August after failing to show up at a South Carolina court hearing.

Jones spoke Wednesday after attending another hearing in Charleston. She said she could not comment on what it was about.
