3-year-old boy attacked by grandfather's pit bull, hospitalized

FAULKNER COUNTY (KATV) - A 3-year-old was hospitalized Monday after his grandfather's pit bull broke off its chain and attacked the boy.

Rickie Jackson's 3-year-old grandson was outside playing around 1:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Highway 365 when one of Jackson's dogs, a pit bull, broke its chain and attacked the boy, according to the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office.

The boy was medflighted to Arkansas Children's Hospital with severe injuries to his face, ears and skull.

Jackson was cited for having a vicious dog and the dog was put down by deputies at the scene.
