Tulsa officers will be visiting area businesses this week in order to better combat various financial crimes.
Detectives with the Financial Crimes Unit are visiting the businesses as a new approach in fighting the crimes.
According to the release, each officer will visit a business and educate them about financial crimes. In particular, how to prevent and report them.
Detectives hope to make contact with each businesses' loss prevention office or security officer to establish a more personal working relationship. Those visiting the businesses will be in marked police cars and uniforms.
During the visits, detectives will hand out fliers on financial crimes. Some of the tips include:
- file reports online at www.tulsapolice.org
- provide video surveillance from inside the store showing the suspect(s)
- vehicle descriptions
- witness statements from anyone with first hand knowledge of crime
- information about reimbursement or restitution you may be receiving
