The Huddle's picks of the week

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – Sports Director John Nugent and the Post and Courier's Phil Bowman have another round of predictions for this week's high school football games.

Fort Dorchester at Goose Creek: Both men pick the Gators to run the table. Bowman says he doesn't see any real opposition for Goose Creek until they take on Stratford.

Ashley Ridge at Stratford: Ashley Ridge is winless and Jacob Park, Stratford's dazzling quarterback, continues to improve on his already dominant game. Bowman and Nugent see no way for Ashley Ridge to sneak past Stratford.

Summerville at Wando, ABC Sports 4's Game of the Week: Bowman says Wando has a lot to prove after last week and will pull out a win even though Summerville is a team loaded with weapons. However, Nugent says Summerville has the upper hand even though they travel to Mount Pleasant.

Colleton County at West Ashley: Even though Colleton County picked up their first win in a very long time last week, Bowman and Nugent say the streak stops at one when they take on the Wildcats.

Bishop England at Academic Magnet: Bowman says while Bishop England will pull out another win this week, the game will be a lot closer than anyone in the stands is expecting it to be. Nugent agrees, picking the Bishops to win.

Here are the rest of the week's games:

Military Magnet 38-21 Stall (Thursday night game)

By David Shelton

With a strong running game, anchored by Ivan Wiggins, and an opportunistic defense that scored two touchdowns, the Military Magnet Eagles whipped Stall, 38-21, on Thursday night.

Wiggins, a 5-3, 140-pound sparkplug, rushed for more than 100 yards as the Eagles rolled up more than 250 yards on the ground to improve to 3-2 on the season. The Eagles also returned two interceptions for touchdowns and forced six turnovers.

"This is a good building block win for us, and I thought our guys played very hard all night," said Military Magnet head coach Gene Ross. "I am really proud of our kids. They played their tails off tonight and made a lot of good things happen."
