DREW COUNTY (KATV) - A forest fire started burning Thursday afternoon between Warren and Monticello.

According to Lt. Larry Hayes with the Warren Fire Department, the fire is near Wilmar and Highway 278 in Drew County.

The Arkansas Forestry Commission told Channel 7 News a little more than 100 acres had burned as of 5:30 Thursday evening and the blaze was still out of control. Ground crews and air tankers were called in to help.

Firefighters said 3-4 structures were in danger at one point but could not confirm if they still were.

KATV's content partners at Monticello Live report that Highway 278 West was closed to traffic by the sheriff and Arkansas State Police. Several county roads are also closed. Drivers can take I-530 to Barkada Road, to Highway 133, then back to Highway 278.
