Health discussion panel set in Fort Smith

Posted: Updated:

FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - A town hall-style meeting is set in Fort Smith so residents can get information about the Affordable Care Act.

The two-hour event is set to start at 5 p.m. at the downtown Fort Smith Convention Center.

Open enrollment for people eligible under a health insurance expansion begins on Oct. 1.

The Southwest Times Record reports (http://is.gd/XnwZbd ) reports that the Monday discussion is hosted by the National Association of Insurance and Finance Advisers.

A panel of 3 speakers will give presentations and take questions afterward.

Event chairwoman Dolores Chitwood says there is plenty of misinformation about the new circulating and that the presentations are to set forth what is to take place under the Affordable Care Act.
