CONWAY (Log Cabin Democrat) - Howard Dallas Short II was formally charged Wednesday with first-degree murder in the August death of Michael Wayne Robb.

An affidavit said Short confessed to the murder during an August 8 interview with investigators.

Robb, 64, was found dead in his home at 27 Wilson Road near Greenbrier on August 6 by Faulkner County Sheriff's deputies. Authorities were looking for him after he was reported missing by his sister.

Authorities believe Robb died several days before being found. Faulkner County Sheriff Andy Shock said investigators ruled out the possibility Robb died of natural causes.
