LITTLE ROCK (KATV) -

Walkers, runners and dozens of dogs put their paws on the pavement Saturday to help raise money for Central Arkansas Rescue Effort (CARE) for Animals.

This is the 15th year for the 5-K and one mile fun run fundraiser.

The purpose of CARE is to rescue dogs and cats facing euthanasia by providing medical care and placing them into foster and permanent homes.

In it's 15 years, CARE has rescued more than 3,000 dogs and cats.

They added two more to that number Saturday.

"We got here today, there are two animals that appear to have been dumped," said Laura Lamps, CARE president. "They're thin, one of them has been injured so our vet volunteers who are here today and our director John Garrison are right now rescuing those two dogs

Lamps said CARE can always use more volunteers for everything from doing paperwork to walking dogs.
