Ark. school boasts record enrollment for 2nd year

Posted: Updated:

SEARCY, Ark. (AP) - Harding University has posted another record undergraduate enrollment for the second straight year

The school says total undergraduate enrollment for 2013 is up to 4,429 from last year's 4,348. The addition of 81 undergraduate students represents nearly a 2% increase.

The school says enrollment was bolstered by a record number of new students attending Harding for the first time.

Another reason for the increase is the freshman-to-sophomore retention rate - which is 82% -up almost 2% from last year.

This year, students represent all 50 states and 48 foreign nations.

The school received 2,506 applications from new students for the 2013 fall semester - up more than 4.5% over the previous year.

Harding has already received 855 applications for fall 2014 and 394 have been accepted.
