1,000 books donated to Pulaski County Jail inmate library

Posted: Updated:

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - Pulaski County Sheriff Doc Holladay helped deliver a load of books to the county jail Thursday morning for inmates.

The books were donated by individuals, the Central Arkansas Library System and authors. Sheriff Holladay said he's happy to have any help he can in keeping inmates occupied.

"It's part of our prevention interaction treatment programs," said Sheriff Holladay. "One of the things that we want to be able to do is offer to the inmates an opportunity to learn."

While officials said they do have to ban some books from the jail, any help from the public is appreciated.
