Deputies warn residents about phone scam

Posted: Updated:

Pulaski and Faulkner County deputies are warning residents about a phone scam taking place in central Arkansas.

Both departments have received several reports of someone posing as a Sheriff's Office employee collecting money for past due fines or warrants.

In some cases the caller asks for a credit or debit card information, in others the caller asks to meet in person to pay the fine in cash.

Spokesmen for the departments say they do not call to collect fines and warn residents that the caller is a scammer.

Investigators are working on the case. If you have been contacted by the scammer, you are asked to contact the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department at (501) 340-6600 or Faulkner County Sheriff's Department at (501) 450-4914.
