2 men arrested in Virginia for Arkansas death

Posted:

SPRINGDALE (AP) - Police say two men have been arrested in Virginia in connection with the death of a northwest Arkansas man.

Springdale police say authorities arrested 55-year-old John Guerra and 48-year-old James Smith in Norfolk. Police say the men were arrested on suspicion of capital murder in the Aug. 16 killing of Edward Charles Abel of Springdale.

Police say extradition proceedings are underway for the two men, who were arrested Friday. Both were arrested on suspicion of capital murder, aggravated robbery and aggravated residential burglary. Authorities did not know if either man had an attorney.

Police say Abel was found dead in his Springdale home, but they haven't released a cause of death yet.
