LITTLE ROCK (AP) - Teammates of former Dallas Cowboys safety Cliff Harris say the Arkansas native should be inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
A number of ex-Cowboys players visited with Harris on Monday at the Little Rock Touchdown Club. The group this year announced a new award named for Harris that will honor the top small-college defensive player of the year.
Longtime Cowboys scout Gil Brandt said Harris deserved a spot in the Hall of Fame, a sentiment echoed by former Cowboys defensive back Charlie Waters and receiver Drew Pearson.
Quarterback Roger Staubach said Harris should be honored for how he influenced the role for safeties back in the 1970s.
