Jacksonville Police increase patrols in school zones

Posted: Updated:

Jacksonville Police will be cracking down on distracted driving, speeding and seatbelt usage at the city's two high schools this Fall.

Police say the safety checks will run through October, and will focus on changing young driver's habits, but older drivers will not be exempt from getting warnings and tickets.

The patrols will begin at 7 a.m. each day.

"The goal of this campaign is to instill good safety habits in our young people from day one", says Capt. Kenny Boyd with the Jacksonville Police Department, "and to remind older more experienced driver's to be role models for safe driving habits."
