JONESBORO (AP) - The Arkansas State men's basketball team has claimed an 88-84 exhibition victory over the University of Alberta.
Thursday night's game was the first of 3 exhibition contests being played in three consecutive days by the Red Wolves as part of their preseason foreign tour in Canada.
A-State trailed by 19 points at the end of the first 10-minute period, but outscored the Golden Bears 25-10 in the second to trim its deficit to just four points, 46-42, by halftime. The Red Wolves took their first lead at 52-51 with 6:24 left in the third period when senior guard Ed Townsel hit a three, and A-State took the lead for good just over three minutes later.
The Red Wolves continue their exhibition tour Friday against the University of Calgary.
