Ingram elected chairman of Southern Legislative Conference

LITTLE ROCK - State Sen. Keith Ingram of West Memphis was elected chairman of the Southern Legislative Conference during its 67th annual meeting this week in Mobile, Ala., the senator's office said Wednesday.

Ingram, a Democrat, succeeds Alabama House Speaker Mike Hubbard and he is the fifth Arkansan to serve as chairman of the 15 state SLC. The group's 2014 annual meeting will be held in Little Rock.

Also Wednesday, state Land Commissioner John Thurston's officials said he was elected vice president of the Western States Land Commissioners Association during that organization's recent summer conference in Omaha, Neb.
