Advocates: Apps cannot make your baby smarter

Posted: Updated:

A consumer advocacy group says parents are getting duped into thinking mobile apps can make their babies and toddlers smarter.

The Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood said mobile apps from Fisher-Price and Open Solutions violate advertising laws. Both companies claim their apps can teach babies the letters of the alphabet or logic skills but the advocacy group said there's no evidence that they do.

The group filed a complaint Wednesday with the Federal Trade Commission.
