Deputy: Missing Ark. inmate may be in Missouri

Posted: Updated:

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Authorities in Garland County say an inmate who escaped the county jail may be hiding out in Missouri.

The Garland County Sheriff's Office says authorities received a tip that Derrick Estell may have headed to Dallas County, Missouri, after the jailbreak July 28.

Surveillance video released by the sheriff's office showed Estell leaping through a small window in the lobby area, then sprinting across a parking lot when he was picked up someone in a waiting car.

The sheriff's office said Monday that authorities in Missouri are working to confirm tips that Estell is in their area, but no arrest has been made.

Estell is a state prisoner who was in Garland County for a court appearance. He was serving sentences from Garland, Grant and Pulaski counties.
