BROOKLAND (KAIT) - A 1-month-old's parents have been charged in his death.

First responders arrived at the home of Sidney and Jennifer Campbell around 7:40 Sunday morning. They found the baby already dead of blunt force trauma to the head. According to the police report, investigators found bruising on the baby's body about the size of an adult thumb print.

Sidney was charged with first degree murder Wednesday. Sidney was charged with hindering apprehension.

Craighead County Sheriff Marty Boyd said the parents did not immediately notify authorities of the infant's condition and Sidney changed his story multiple times.

"The facts that we have so far are not consistent with his story," Boyd said. "The father has admitted he dropped the baby, unintentionally at this time. But through our investigation, it's still an open investigation at this time, but we are charging him with first degree murder."
