"Boots and Badges" Special Olympics fundraiser kicks off Saturday

NORTH LITTLE ROCK - The annual "Boots and Badges" fundraising event benefiting the Special Olympics of Arkansas kicks off Saturday.

Local law enforcement and fire departments will take time from 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. to collect donations from customers in the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter on Maumelle Blvd. in North Little Rock. They will return Sunday from noon - 8:00 p.m.

Hot dogs and nachos along with drinks will be available.

All money raised from Boots and Badges will help Special Olympics Arkansas provide training to the 14,000 athletes and purchase necessary equipment throughout the year as the athletes train to participate in sports and Olympic-style competition.

    A prayer vigil was held Sunday for the missing Greenwood father and son. 33-year-old Brian Floyd and 10-month-old have been missing since Friday, July 25. Police are still looking for Floyd's dark green 1997 GMC pick up truck which they believe was last seen in the Ouacita mountains area south of Blue mountain.More >>
