Annual Cardboard Boat Races in Heber Springs draw a crowd

HEBER SPRINGS (KATV) -

It was sink or sail Saturday at the 27th annual World Championship Cardboard Boat Races.

At the race in Heber Springs, people bring creative boats made out of cardboard, and not much else, and attempt to make their way through a 200 meter course.

This year's theme was "Sailing with the Superheroes."

Awards ranged from "Pride of the Fleet" to the "Titanic Award" for the most dramatic sinking.

The races were named one of the top ten wackiest summer events in the U.S. by Trip Advisor this year.

Channel 7 took back the media victory in the second annual Anne Pressly Memorial Celebrity Race.

Janelle Lilley and producer Rachel Hoffmeyer led the Channel 7 team to victory in Wonder Woman and Superwoman costumes.
