Arkansas St. trustees agree to sell property

Posted: Updated:

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas State University Board of Trustees has agreed to sell property in Jonesboro known as the Arkansas Services Center.

The board agreed to the sale to Jonesboro City Water & Light - which bid $1.1 million for the property in the southern part of the city. The property includes nearly 40 acres and has been vacant for several months.

ASU System President Charles Welch told trustees during a teleconference Wednesday that the Arkansas Department of Human Services and the Arkansas Department of Career Education also have interest in the property.

It was not immediately known how much of the proceeds ASU will receive from the sale.
