Benton man arrested on two counts of rape

BENTON (KATV) - Officers arrested a Benton man Friday on two rape charges. One of the alleged victims was a juvenile.

Police were first contacted about the allegations on February 24. After an extensive investigation and a review by the Saline County Prosecutor's Office, 19-year-old John Mesler was arrested on July 19.

Lt. Kevin Russell with the Benton Police Department told Channel 7 News that one victim was a minor and the other was an adult. Mesler reportedly knew them both.

The investigation is still underway and more charges could be filed.
