Toddler shot and killed in Lonoke County

LONOKE COUNTY (KATV) -

A 3-year-old child was shot and killed at a home in Lonoke County Sunday afternoon, according to authorities.

Lonoke County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Lt. Jim Kulesa said the initial investigation revealed the child was at a friend of the family's residence on Kerr Station Road around 3:45 p.m. when he picked up a 9mm automatic.

The handgun then went off, striking the child, according to Kulesa.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kulesa said there are no signs to indicate foul play.
