80 cats and dogs rescued from White County home

Posted: Updated:

More than 80 cats and dogs were rescued from a home near Velvet Ridge Friday.

The Humane Society of the United States found many of the animals were living in filth and hadn't been receiving basic care.

Some of the animals were housed in a trailer while others were kept outside without shade or shelter.

Pet Smart Charities is providing food and supplies for the dogs.

Veterinarians are examining the animals and will be giving them necessary medical treatment.

The humane society says Arkansas State Police are investigating.
