Rice Expo to feature message about gluten-free living

Posted: Updated:

The Arkansas Rice Expo, set for Friday, August 2nd in Stuttgart, will focus attention on that fact that most rice is naturally gluten-free.   The expo is set for 8 a.m. at the Grand Prairie Center at 2709 U. S. Highway 165.

"It's natural for the Rice Expo to show the many healthy ways rice can fit into our meals", Chuck Wilson, director of the Rice Research and Extension Center says.  A seminar showing attendees how to live gluten-free with rice will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Cooks from around the state will compete for top honors in the Rice Recipe Contest, and Rice Queens from around the Delta will also show off their winning dishes.

Featured speakers include Sen. Mark Pryor, horticulture specialist and author Janet Carson and Betsy Ward of the USA Rice Federation.

For a preview of the Rice Expo, tune in to Good Morning Arkansas Tuesday, July 30th at 9 a.m.
