Posted: Updated:

Texting and driving is being blamed for a wreck involving a semi-truck that closed down a state highway for nearly 4 hours early Friday morning.

It happened juts before midnight on State Highway 69A and County Road 30, just south of the Kansas state line in Ottawa County.

According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 20-year-old driver of Baxter, Kansas was texting while driving when he went left of center and hit a semi-truck.

The semi-truck then went off the road to the right, and came back to rest sitting across the highway.

The 20-year-old, who authorities said was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to a Joplin hospital in good condition with a leg injury, while the semi driver was not injured.

The highway was back open around 4 a.m.
