OHP Graduation Thursday, Female Troopers At All-Time High

Posted: Updated:

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is graduating forty new cadets on Thursday -- and bringing their total of female troopers to a historic high.

The cadets will graduate as part of the 61st Academy of troopers in Edmond Thursday afternoon.

Five female cadets in that mix brings the total number of female state troopers to an all-time high of twenty, officials said.

Of the forty graduates, eight are military veterans, six with overseas combat experience. They come to the Patrol from all over the state with work experiences ranging from pipe fitting to landscaping.

Their ages range from 23 to 35.

The next phase of training for the graduates will consist of three months of field training with a senior trooper.
