The University of Arkansas at Little Rock says a former education commissioner will lead a non-profit group that works to improve math, science and English education in the state.

Kenneth James will take over as president of the Arkansas Advanced Initiative for Math and Science starting on Oct. 1.

James replaces Tommie Sue Anthony, who is retiring.

The Arkansas Advanced Initiative for Math and Science is a non-profit group that partners with UALR and public high schools across the state to improve Advanced Placement math, science and English education.
