UPDATE: Authorities looking for third suspect in murder of 71-year-old

Posted: Updated:

Garland County deputies are looking for a third suspect in connection with the murder of an elderly man.

A warrant for Capital Murder has been issued for Chestly Wayne Gaston, 21, of Jessieville.

Authorities believe Gaston may have fled to Texas.

Ethan Sallee, 18, and an unnamed juvenile male, 17, were arrested Saturday and charged with one count each of Capital Murder for the death of Dan Roberson.

According to Garland County Sheriff's Department, deputies found Roberson, 71, dead in a remote wooded area near the border of Northern Garland and Perry counties.

Roberson had been missing since Tuesday morning.

Sallee and the juvenile confessed to authorities the three of them strangled Roberson, then dumped his body on the edge of an old logging road.

"I believe they lived on the same street at some point in time," Garland County investigator Sgt. Joel Ware said of Gaston. "Mr. Roberson did know the subject's dad or grandfather or something growing up."

Ware said they don't believe it was a random act and believe the motive that ended Roberson's life was robbery.

"For a 71-year-old person's life to be taken this way, I think it affects everyone," Ware said. "Someone like that whose lived that many years, should be able to pass naturally. This shouldn't happen."

Investigators are still following up on leads, according to a Garland County Sheriff's Department spokesperson.

The juvenile is expected to be charged as an adult. The prosecuting attorney's office is in the process now of making that happen, according to Ware.
