Double homicide in Batesville over the weekend

BATESVILLE (KATV) - A Cotton Plant man was arrested Sunday morning, accused of a double homicide.

Akeem Lewis, 23, allegedly killed 25-year-old Omar Scales and 47-year-old John Weeams Saturday night around 8:00 at 295 Dry Run Circle. Scales was found inside a car. Weeams was inside the house with a firearm beside him.

Witnesses told investigators Lewis left the shooting in a white Ford with rims and tinted windows. After working all night, detectives found Lewis and took him into custody.

At last check, he had not yet been formally charged.
