It's barely summer, but already, people are thinking about fall and the beginning of school.
Saturday morning, volunteers stood outside the Owasso Wal-Mart to gather school supplies for children in need.
This year, organizers expect more than 600 children in Owasso and Collinsville will be requesting assistance.
Becky Flesher volunteers for Owasso Community Resources. She says, "A lot of people think, 'Oh, Owasso, you're a suburb and everything is great,' but there are people in need everywhere. Sometimes families need help. They might not need long-term help, but right now, they might not have the $125 that you spend to go get your kid outfitted," Flesher says.
They will be hosting a second event which will include a back-to-school craft fair to be held later in July.
