Historic Restaurant Re-Opens In Tulsa

Posted: Updated:

Knotty Pine BBQ is back open.  The restaurant has been a Tulsa tradition for 60 years.

It burned down in May of 2010.

Three years later, the doors are back open.

The family who owns it says everything is the same except for a few new menu items.

David Woodard is part of the family who owns the restaurant and says the time spent apart from the business has improved its operation.

He started working with his family when he was 12. "I worked in a lot of other restaurants as well, so I learned a lot of other things other than BBQ along the way," Woodard says.

"It's nice to be able to come back and fix some things that I wanted to. Even as a kid, I saw things that I wanted to be different, but they weren't going to let me do what I wanted at 12 years old," Woodard says.

Knotty Pine BBQ is located at 61st and 33rd W. Ave.

It is open 7 days a week.
