Tulsa City Leaders to Discuss Sales Tax, Public Safety

Posted: Updated:

City leaders will gather for a news conference focusing on public safety in Tulsa Monday morning.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett, Tulsa Police Chief Chuck Jordan, Tulsa Fire Chief Ray Driskell and Streets & Stormwater Director, Dan Crossland will speak about needs for their departments, including discussion about the .167 sales tax needed to secure the funding for the police and fire departments.

During a city council meeting last week, councilors approved the 2013-2014 budget, which included two police academies and added civilian positions to the force, putting 61 more police officers back on Tulsa streets.

The news conference is at 10:30 a.m. in the 15th Boardroom of City Hall.
