Sunday Storms Whip Parts Of Jenks

Posted: Updated:

Strong thunderstorms and straight-line winds rake across southern Tulsa county Sunday.

Channel 8 crews found minor damage in south Jenks, in the area of 111th Street south to 121st Street south between Peoria and Elwood Avenues.

The winds were strong enough to whip down medium-sized tree limbs and even some power poles. Metal flew off of a car wash at the corner of 111th and Elm.

Crews closed down 111th and 121th in the area so they could replace what was broken. There was no estimate on how long the work would take.

As of 5:00am Monday, PSO crews reported almost 4,000 customers without electricity in Tulsa county.
