LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - Police believe a fire that killed a Little Rock couple well-known in the area's gospel community was intentionally set.

Investigators discovered the body of Donna Creer in their bed early Wednesday morning at 405 Markwood. Her husband Donald's body was found nearby. They were taken to a local hospital but doctors weren't able to do anything for them.

Donna was well known in Little Rock for her magnificent voice and exemplary public service. She was a well known gospel singer who, according to the Christian Post, was a member of the Broadcasters Hall of Fame and served as president of the Arkansas Gospel Announcers Guild.

Loved ones said Donald also had a beautiful voice and an engaging personality.

"They were just people that outreached to other people, that always had a happiness about them," said friend Dianne Curry. "If they had problems, you would never know."

Friends also tell Channel 7 News Donna had recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 uterine cancer.

Police have not named any suspects.

Channel 7's Jeannette Reyes will have more on this story tonight at 10:00.
